about

Victor (Oligarkh): "Our sound engineer Prokhor introduced us to Andrey (the creator of Broken Stars) when he was looking for a replacement for one of the Moscow concerts. We had fun during that trip and had a nice show. Andrey showed us some of his tracks, and we started talking about music, sound, and concepts. I’d come to visit him six months later and brought some demos to listen together and discuss the sound. Subsequently, we agreed he would send us the edited versions of them. I thought there would be a bit of a sound fix, but what I heard surprised me a lot. The tracks acquired new melodies, samples and other sound design."

Andrey (Broken Stars): "In addition to my music project, I work as a sound engineer in a studio and at live shows, and once I received an offer to work with the guys at their Moscow performance.

We were talking, listening to my material, found a lot in common and decided to meet in St. Petersburg, in my home studio, to exchange experiences, listen to the concepts and realize what we can do together. In the end, I chose a couple of Victor's blueprints including a remix pack of the song “Rechka” and begun to work with them.

It wasn't exactly a simple job, but I really enjoyed the process. The musical vision of Oligarkh is an extremely subtle thing, which at the same time finds fairly simple and understandable expression, so it was easy to fire up with their ideas. Moreover, their energy and my music are on the same page.

I experiment with bass music quite a lot, mixing it with ethnic flavor, but working alone, I did not know which side to approach Russian authentic chants. Working in a collaboration made all the pieces fall in their places. And it turned out cool!
